Nurture your network. The fastest and quickest way to find a new role or keep your finger on the pulse is through people and networks. As the saying goes, its not what you know its who you know, so make sure you’re regularly connecting with the people in your network whenever you can.
If you want to move into a new new area, market or industry explore internship, volunteering and secondment opportunities. Getting first hand experience of a new industry or space is invaluable, not only because it gives you an insight before you commit to a move, but because it enables you to build some practical first hand experience that will make you instantly more attractive when you are in the market for a change.
Put a personal development or career plan in place. Its really hard to get somewhere without a plan or a map. Putting a career or development plan in place allows you to get clear and focused on what you want to achieve, where you want to get to and how you’re going to get there.
